What is Holistic Health Coaching (HHC)?
My main focus as an HHC is educating individuals on where they are on the HEALTH scale. This scale is not only about your size, shape or weight. Instead we focus on health from a “Wholistic” perspective. This means that, in addition to your eating habits and exercise regimen, we examine your relationships, career and spirituality.
Developing life long habits that making eating healthy easy.
Understand the different dietary theories to find one that fits you.
Understand cravings to determine what your body is telling you.
Work with the energy in food to achieve optimal health.
Relationships, career and spirituality:
How the world sees you.
How you see yourself.
What has stopped you in these areas?
Specific actions you can take in the areas that are important to you.
What should I look for in a Health Coach?
1) Compatibility
2) Experience
3) Education
Compatibility:
The first thing to look for in a coach is that you are comfortable during your first session. I say this because even if a coach has twenty five years experience in their field, if you do not feel comfortable, the sessions will not go well.
What I bring with me to our sessions is a flexible approach to health and wellness such that you can integrate it into your life without feeling deprived or a loss of power. During our sessions you will be discussing things of a personal nature. My most important priority is to create an opening for you that gives you the freedom and power to get what you want out of life.
Experience:
My experience includes 18 years as a mid level manager for a Fortune 500 company. During those years I mentored supervisors in achieving goals. My strengths in career coaching include problem solving, analytical thinking, goals orientation and communication. I enjoy working with people to find the “What do I want to be when I grow up” answer. Remember that this is still a question for some in their 30’s and 40’s. However, in the 40’s the typical question is “Have I focused on the things that are important to me”? These are great questions that we will find great answers to!
My experience in Holistic Health Coaching has been a concentration on what we put into our bodies affects everything outside our bodies. I have been coaching people for six years. My coaching started while studying acupuncture and eastern theories on food consumption.
Education:
Most coaches today have some form of education/certification in their field. I attended the Eastern School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese where I studied eastern theories of health. Additionally I studied at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City where I learned about most of the popular dietary theories known today (the Zone, Food for Life and Raw Food).
What are Rachel’s certifications?
Licensed by the Medical Examiners office in the State of New Jersey.
Nationally certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Certified by the American Association of Drugless Practioners (AADP).
In general if you believe you CAN’T…then coaching is perfect for you.
Read the statements below to determine if any of them seem to fit you:
I have tried several DIET plans but can never stay consistent.
I don’t seem to lose any weight no matter what diet plan I try.
My schedule prevents me from doing the things I want.
I am too busy doing things for everyone else and I don’t have time to do the things that I want.
I never have enough energy to make it through the day.
Every time I try to do something – things never work out for me.
Even though I am financially successful – I am not fulfilled.
I would like to implement some strategies for success but do not know how to start.
What areas do we focus on during our sessions?
During each session we will focus on one main topic. These topics are determined after our initial consultation. That is, we identify your needs and center our discussions around them.
Each session is concluded with a brief talk on our fulfillment of the intention of the session. This creates the opportunity to plan our next session so that it is meaningful and focused on the areas that are important to you.
How is HHC different than Life Coaching OR Business Coaching?
In most cases life coaching or business coaching target specific areas. HHC focused on all aspects of your well being. The popular phrase of “You can’t have a healthy mind without a healthy body” and vice versa applies. Everything in your life is interrelated. The issues you may have at work affect your family life. The issues you have with your health affect other areas as well. During our sessions we discuss all aspects.
